May
Artists Katherine and Jonathan Cox will show new works on paper and sculpture, respectively in their
DUET exhibition which
opens Saturday, May 18th beginning with a talk by the artists at 5:30PM at The Art Store. A reception
to honor the artists will
follow. The DUET exhibition is the couples second exhibition together, and their
first at The Art Store. The exhibition will continue
through June 7.
Katherine Cox is an artist, teacher and the current Director of Education at the Huntington Museum
of Art. She has served also as
a drawing instructor at Marshall University. Jonathan Cox is a sculptor working primarily in wood
and stone. Since 1999, he has
nurtured an increasingly growing sculpture program at Marshall University where he continues to serve
as the Professor of
Sculpture. Both artists recall natural forms, and incorporate wood and stone either as material or subject
matter, though achieving
different levels of intimacy and physical relationships with their audiences.
June
The Art Store will be hosting a Plein Air Painting Workshop directed by Ellie Schaul. The
workshop will focus on the creative
use of perspective and color using the nursery and surrounding urban setting as focal points. Workshop
will be held on June 1st
at Forren Soil in Charleston, WV. For
