Susan Wood was born in Altoona, Pennsylvania.  She was educated at Pennsylvania State University and Indiana University of Pennsylvania and received her master’s degree in art at Marshall University, Huntington, West Virginia.  Susan was a former art teacher and county art coordinator in Jackson County WV from 1968-1979.  She now divides her time between her home in Charleston WV and Little Dear Isle ME.
